I’m a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist (Dip CBH). CBH uses hypnosis alongside Cognitive and Behavioural therapies. It also integrates other therapies and techniques, such as ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), when they are effective for helping you overcome your very unique problem and flourish.
Often a problem is so ingrained that we are accustomed to it and don’t realise the extent it affects our life. Facing one issue with the right support can give us the tools and confidence to continue breaking down other blocks to become more free and fulfilled. Coming to see me for (e.g.) facing a particular feared situation can have a ripple effect on how you deal with other situations in your life and how you feel about yourself.
We have all been conditioned and hypnotised, some of this is an everyday phenomena (e.g. the rewards and penalties that come as consequences of our actions, how we were parented, media campaigns and our own repetitive thoughts and patterns). During our sessions you may experience yourself detached from conditionings (de-hypnosis) and be free to choose a different direction, possibly re-hypnotising with something more helpful of your own conscious choosing. If we are being hypnotised anyway, why not choose something helpful to us? At the same time, we can experience and develop the sense that we can let go of all of it and just enjoy ‘being’.
Conditions I can treat include: Phobias, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, Performance Anxiety, Lack of Assertiveness, Low Esteem, Insomnia, Stress and habits. Online Therapy can work just as well as in person, I’m happy to do either. If you choose to do online you will need to use a laptop or computer rather than a smartphone and be able to use a room where you are comfortable and have privacy.
I’m currently offering online Therapy using Zoom or Brave Talk. The first session is a full consultation which includes: a thorough assessment of your problem or goal, coming to an understanding (conceptualisation), giving you a rough idea of a treatment plan and something helpful to set you off in the right direction. That is why the first session takes 1.5 hours, future sessions are 1 hour (I still charge the same price). There is no pressure to commit to a particular number of sessions, I will just give you an idea of what I believe is realistic for your goal. We will work towards a clear goal for you and this treatment will involve you doing some work, it is not passive, there are no saviours 😉
