Homeopathy

Experience safe, gentle, and effective individualised medicine alongside sustainable, natural, and affordable healthcare, embodying true preventative medicine.

Homeopathy is the second largest and the fastest growing system of medicine in the world. It is used in more than 70 countries, including 40 countries in Europe, where hundreds of millions of people use it as their primary care medicine. 7.4 million people or 11% of the UK population currently use homeopathy.

Personalized Healing

Homeopathy is tailor made for each patient. The homeopath will take into consideration your current complaint and its symptoms, and fully investigate the underlying cause. They will also take into account your overall health, your lifestyle, your medical and family history, your mental and emotional life, how you react to different changes in your environment and so on. All the things that make you, YOU!

Safety and Effectiveness

Homeopathy has had an exemplary safety record for more than 200 years.

Homeopathic medicine is manufactured in government regulated pharmacies according to very specific criteria laid down in the British Homeopathic Pharmacopia. The source substances are specially prepared using a process called potentisation, producing a safe, gentle yet effective medicine in which all toxicity is removed.

Homeopathy is effective for both acute and chronic conditions, and safe in pregnancy, for new borns and for all age groups including the very elderly. It is also safe for your pets.

Precise Selection

The fundamental principle of homeopathy that underpins everything a homeopath does, is a natural law called the Law of Similars, Similibus similia curentur or Like cures Like. Although the law was identified at least 3,000 years ago, it was Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician who developed the idea into the system of medicine that is homeopathy today.

As a very simple example, we might drink black coffee to keep us awake on a long drive, and if we drink too much coffee we might feel agitated, irritable and unable to sleep when we do get to bed. As a homeopath, if we have a patient who complains of sleeplessness with irritability and agitation, then one of the homeopathic remedies we might consider would be Coffea Cruda, the specially prepared homeopathic medicine made from coffee. Like cures like.

Of course in daily practice cases are not always this straightforward. Patients come with complex chronic diseases, often conditions they have had for many years that have not been helped by pharmaceutical medicine.

There is an occasional (accidental) use of the Law of Similars to be found in pharmaceutical medicine. For example the use of the stimulant Ritalin in the treatment of patients diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) which inexplicably (to all but a homeopath) calms the over stimulated patient.

Evidence-Based Efficacy

There is a wealth of research showing the efficacy and effectiveness of homeopathic medicine. Find out more about the clinical research in Homeopathy at The Homeopathy Research Institute:  https://www.hri-research.org/

“The Homeopathy Research Institute (HRI) is a UK based charity dedicated to promoting high quality research in Homeopathy at an International level. The charity was founded by physicist, Dr Alexander Tournier, who previously worked as an independent researcher for Cancer Research UK, conducting interdisciplinary research at the boundaries between mathematics, physics and biology.”

Sustainability and Preventative Care

Homeopathy is sustainable, environmentally friendly and can provide true preventative medicine.

Homeopathy can also transform farming, increasing the health of animals and crops, reducing and eventually eliminating the need for antibiotics. Homeopathy is transformative medicine, good for the animals, good for the food chain and therefore good for us and our wider environment.

Professionals from medical doctors to veterinarians and dedicated homeopaths offer homeopathic treatments. Rigorous training ensures safe and effective care tailored to individual needs.

Who Practises Homeopathy?

Medical doctors, veterinarians and professional homeopaths. Professional homeopaths who are not already medically trained undergo a rigorous four year training.

Practitioners practicing privately are regulated by their own profession body to offer a range of services. Some specialize in children, women’s complaints, family practice, the elderly and some are vets specializing in the treatment of animals, both pets and farm animals.

The profession does its best to make homeopathy accessible to all with low cost clinics and sliding scales.
Homeopathic medicines are produced as tablets, liquids, creams and ointments. Most are sold by specialist pharmacies, while medicines for first aid situations can be found in supermarkets and health shops.
